ok why is it that

with diesel trannsmissions you dont have to give it gas it will take off in 1st or second but gasoline engines you have to give it gas..ive always wondered about this and never thought to ask...were talkin about manual transmissions here

Diesels have mega torque and compression. Just can't hold that back

ohh so thats it?? the great amount of tq they have..guess the turbo helps...and i know some gasoline engines will take off in (granny) low gear if they have some massive rear end gears...like my buddies '86 3 speed with a 302 it has gears up in the 5's i believe

Umm... My '97 3.0L 4x4 Ranger would take off just by letting out the clutch. It DEFINATELY did not have a mega amount of torque!
