01 transmision

so my 01 5.4 4wd auto makes a weird noise when shifting from 1st to 2nd, today when merging onto the parkway i nailed it from a dead stop and held my foot to the floor threw 2nd gear n when it shifted from 1st at about 5500 rpms it made a noise like a old v-belt slipping but it only lasted for about 1-2 seconds, my trans fluid looks brand new. is the transmision hurting? could a trans fluid change and posibly an aftermarket trans cooler help?

If it is a short squeal at the shift, it is more than likely your accessory belt slipping with the quick change of rpm. Put on a Goodyear Gatorback.

Yeah, trust us, they do slip and make a squeal.

Go get a Goodyear Gatorback belt and the 'problem' will go away.

Think about it, the engine is going from 4-5000 rpm to probably in the neighborhood of 1-2000. The accessories are still at 5000 (or whatever they were going) the belt is the only thing slowing them down. They are "laying rubber" to slow down.

Yep it's a belt. I had the same thing, got even worse after I put in a shift kit. As the others said put on a Goodyear Gatorback belt, after I did that no more squeal.

I would say the whistling noise is a vacuum leak. Try to find out where the noise is coming from then check all lines in that area for a small hole or crack.
