Help please

Whats up,

I have a 2001 f150 4.6 V8 with 60,000. After towing a boat about 3 months ago I notice my trans has started shifting diffrently (Towed boat with overdrive off as recomended 300 miles total trip). I noticed that it shifting too soon leaving me with no power when needed and it also seems to be shifting harder. It also takes a good about of pressure on the gas before it shifts back to a lower gear. It shifts through all the gears and there is no slipping what so ever. I was wondering if towing the boat (which about 4000lbs) messed something up or is just time for a fluid change? I was also wondering if adding lucus trans additive will help I have had success with it in my explorer and was wondering if anyone has used it in their f150 with success. If anyone could provide any feedback it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the help,
Duane

Do yourself a favor and disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the computer to get rid of whatever it has learned that it shouldn't have.

Thanks alot for all the helpful advice. I got alittle nervous when I changed the fluid and filter it ran better but still not 100%. I disconnected the Battery today and aloud the comp to reset it self and man what a diffrence. Its like a brand new truck. Thanks alot for all the good advice. If it wasnt for this site I would not have even attempted to do it my self. Im shakey when it comes to messing with trans and since this is my dream truck I didnt want to royaly mess anything up. But the job was simple and successful thanks to all you guys.

Thanks again,
Duane :rocker:
