Trans problem

Well installed a transtec c plate kit to my 4r70w this weekend all went well. 1-2 shifts awesome and wot tire graps at 2-3 shifts. Well Last night I lost 2-3 shifts. The pan has been droped and is covered in brass and other metals. Could the shift kit have caused this? And are shift kits harded on the trans?

Specs: 2002 f150 5.4l 4r70w .

Sounds like you have trashed your tranny. How many miles do you have?

Yea , it does - Huh , never heard of a transtech c plate kit. The Transgo Kit I purchased from Troyer 2 years ago is still working great - No problems, in fact , I haven't heard of any problems w/Transgo's or Factory Tech kits.

Where did the "Brass" come from?

Normally non-magnetic particulate that looks like brass = burned up clutch. And yes the shift kit can cause it if the kit does not supply the correct amount of fluid to the right places at the right time.

Huh, yea, I never seen that before I guess. Just "Black" sh^t in the pan , around the magnet lol. OR the fluid turns dark red when contaminated with clutch shrapnel. Thanks for the info.

Jbrew - I got the kit from madenterprizes.. Mike Dunn... (I am not bashing Mike’s products, great guy).

Super upset about the Trans.... only had 75,000 on her. I was saving for a lightning swap. I guess that is not happening now. I have the Trans being rebuilt. It is going to cost around $ 800. (I got hooked up from a friend). Never going to install a shift kit again! It was fun though having everyone look amazed at a full size truck grabbing rubber at 40 mph lol.

Yea, Madenterprizes is a cool supplier. Well that sucks - Maybe the trans was weak to begin with ? Who really knows , unless you purchased the truck new ..? I do know the Transgo Kit saved my **** some $$$$$. My trans was slipping bad from the line, I was getting ready to purchase a used tranny, then decided to try a shift kit first. Went with it a couple years ago and still no problems. I guess it depends on exactly what's wore out or hurt in the trans to begin with.

$800 isn't bad - Good Luck.
