Clutch problems
Clutch problems
Guys, I need help! I have a 2000 XLT F150 with clutch problems. It started about 8 mos. ago. I attempted to drive the truck and it would not go into gear, nor would it stay crunk. I thought those were signs of a clutch problem even though there were no previous signs. I parked it for two months, had a friend look at it and he started it with no problem and drove it, no problem. I drove it for two months no problem and it suddenly went out again, same signs as before. Now it is difficult to put in gear and will not engage. Could this be something other than the usual clutch problem?
It sounds like the slave cylinder has leak. Try bleeding it to see if it improves.
Do not do this in front of the garage. Put it is first gear and start the truck. Does it surge forward? Yes. Clutch is not disengaging most likely caused by slave cylinder. Regardless you need to pull the tranny to change slave or clutch. No. Then the shift forks are not sliding the gears over far enough to lock them in place. Pull the top cover and have a look at the shift linkage. The shift rods have ball detents to lock them in place when you shift. If the forks or the lock pins are damaged the rods do not slide far enough to lock into place and it pops out of gear.
