Tranny temps
I just installed a tranny temp gauge (140-280 mechanical sweep) on my tranny line going to the cooler. The temperature outside is 50 degrees...the gauge has read a highest of 165 going up a long hill, but usually when its cruising the needle sets at the bottom peg (140) on the gauge. What is a usual range? Is it usual for the gauge to fluxuate regularly? Thanks for any help.

Yeah, wait till it warms up and you will see it get to 180 or so in traffic or while traveling uphill

that seems about normal to me. my edge usually reads around 145 when cruising and sometimes up to 165 climbing a long hill on the highway.

Thanks guys.

The absolute best thing to do is don't worry about any body elses temps. Drive your truck and learn what your truck does. Learn what's normal for you and your driving conditions. Then you will readily know how it's performing and when something's not right.

If you tow a big load and hit mountains, with the converter unlocked you can see as high as 200.
