Question auto to stick

I have a 99 f250 LD and I hate the sloppy shifts when I tow and was thinking of swapping it out for a stick. Would it be worth it or should I get a programmer to firm up the shifts? What would you guys recomend?

Which auto do you have? (If you don't know, look at the code on the door jamb sticker and look it up in the sticky thread at the top of this forum)

if you have a 4r70

look at a factory tech valve body and C-plate or just the C-plate at a minimum

it really helps

If it's a 99 I doubt it's a E4OD, it's more likely a 4R100, door code E? They are pretty much the same tranny but there may be differences in service parts and mod parts.

It's a 4R100. Twin brother from a different mother to the E4OD.

Anyway, If'n you'd like a stick, you'd have to find one that came behind a 4.6L (light duty M5OD-R2), or a Superdutys five or six speed with a 5.4L or 6.8L and maybe a 6.0L. Not sure on the heavy duty ZF trannys fitting under the cab of your truck. The computer will throw a CE light for not having a tranny hooked to it, but won't effect engine operation.

Anything can be done obviously, but is the time worth it to you?

I wouldn't put a Mazda box in a 5.4 in a 3/4 ton truck.
