Rebuild Cost question. Take a look.

The shop that has my car quoted me this:

Overhaul/Rebuild Labor: $892
Overhaul Kit w/ Redline clutches and Kevlar bands: $397
Torque Converter (1800-2000 stall): $285
Planetary Gears/Carrier/Assembly: $263
Valvebody & Shiftkit: $350
Trans Cooler (which is much bigger than stock): $45

Total: $23xx with 3yr/36k mile warranty.

That is the installed price. What do you guys think?

I don't like their choice of parts on the clutches and band. Honestly, I wouldn't put a kevlar band in a 4R series no matter what. Kevlar is the worst thing you can put in one of these transmissions and the stock frictions are much better than any aftermarket product available.

Other than that, this is a great price.

just had almost the EXACT same thing happen to me last week man. $2100 with only 1 year warranty i was in a bind though and needed one bad.

my advice:
get you butt on ebay, buy a performance one for 1100, take it to a shop and have the install for $400, case closed.

Trust me. we're getting raped
