Tips/advice needed - Swap 1-2 solenoid

I just posted this in the Suspension forum
by mistake. Please forgive the cross-post.
If any mod sees this, please delete first
one and leave this one in here. Thanks.

1998/99 F150 extra cab
5.4L eng. & 4R70W trans.
Superchip (taken out b/c
gas is too expensive now)
Truck tows a 17' flats boat
about 2500m p/year

For a while the truck has been bang-shifting
into second gear, then a week ago my O/D
light began to flash so I ran over to Advanced
and got the code read. It showed up with a
P0781, then I came back to the forum and
did some searching for a fix with some pretty
good results.

I found enough info to indicate I need to
change the 1 - 2 accumulator piston springs
and since I will be going in there, I will be
changing out the S1 - S2 solenoid pack for
good measure. I also plan on draining the
TC and changing the filter while I'm there
for good measure.

I just had the parts shipped overnight from
Texas (the good ole boys from Bob Utter
Ford ) and I plan on starting tomorrow
morning, so I figured I'd wait for the last
minute to ask for help. .

Now for the questions:
1. Can the guys who have done this already
offer up some tips to make the job go
smoother?
2. Will I need any special tools that I should
be out buying right now?
3. How much tranny fluid will I need for this
project?
4. When I open up the pan, how much fluid
will comeout? (my oil change catch-pan
is all I have right now and it won't hold
but maybe 1.5 gallons)
5. Should I go buy an appropriately sized
catch-pan?
6. Are there any springs that will go flying if
I release something while not paying close
attention?
7. Are there any brittle parts which can break
if I'm not careful?

I'll stop here and let you guys chew on all this
fat for a bit.

Marshall
