different trany's?
 
i was looking at rcd lift kits and they specify the price by which tranny you have the 4R70W tranny or the E4OD. wat the hell is the difference and how do i tell

If you have the 4.2 or 4.6, you have a 4R70W. If you have the 5.4, it could be either, but most likely the 4R100(E4OD). Look at the pan. 4R70W is symmetrical, with both rear corners evenly rounded/angled off. 4R100 is large, rectangular pan with one L-shaped corner cut out. Can't remember how many pan bolts...look tomorrow. You can also find pan photos...google.

The 4R70W is a variant of the AOD. The E4OD is a totally different trans, with some similarities to the C6. Go to the 2nd page of this thread & read the "Introduction to the E4OD".
