Trans issues on 04-06 ANYONE ELSE?

Anyone else expereicing a weird delay in shifting just at about 25-30mph. Seems like the trans just cant make up its mind wether to stay in 2nd gear or shift in to 3rd, some **** like that. Anyway it happens when you gradually give it throttle in most cases around turns, as speed around a turn is about 15 then gradually giving it gas to come out of the turn it does not know what it wants to do

I had that problem. Do you get a funny "ice in a blender" sound also? I just took mine to ford in November and they flashed the ecu.

yeah.mine does some gear hunting too in the that situation. In 2nd to 3rd back to 2nd then once again to 3rd in a few seconds time.

Also if not accelerating quickly..say like trying to keep the rpm's 2000 until I get up to speed around 45mph. The rpm guage moves very little from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd.(probably around 100-200rpms at most) then going into 4th the guage does not move at all and instead of pause when shifting it's more like a thump when shifts. So basically the rpms stay at 2000 untill the torque converter locks. Does anyone have this as well? If I'm getting on the gas more it shifts "normal" a small pause and a noticable rpm drop between gears.

Before someone points out the obvious I know there will be more rpm drop if i'm getting on the gas more, something just doesn't feel right to me though with this truck.

thanks

Yep I get that too, Torque converter lock un lock issues at about 45-50 mph. Weird???

I just started having the same problem. I have a 05 Lariat Scab with the 5.4 automatic. It's like the transmission studders at about 45 if you let off and push right back on the gas again. Has anyone had a dealer look at this?

I spoke with one of my friends who is a tech at the local Ford dealer. He spoke with the Trans tech who advised that some of them have been having valvebody issues. He said that there is like a little ball that controls fluid via directional passages and sometimes that ball gets stuck or lodged in an area and does not get disenaged for a second which can cause the issues. I am taking it in soon and will let you guys know. I know its not a software issue because I had it re-flasehd about 4 months ago with the lates software and there has not been any new updated software out yet.

My 04 does this same stuff you guys are talking about. I've never worried about it too much because it's done it for the past 60k miles, but it is a little annoying.

Mine acted funny for about an hour and then Reverse went out of it. Took it to the dealer and they said that a gear for reverse broke loose. They replaced it and I pick it up on Friday. Thank god for extended warranty's.
