Overdrive In Winter
Hi guys, I would like to know if it's normal in cold weather that my transmission not shifting on overdrive before 3-5 miles. One guy said to me it's a protection for the transmission. They let the transmission going hotter before shifting on the final gear. I own a f150 2000 4x4 with the 4.6l auto. Thanks yamyam

It's normal.
The transmission temp sensor won't let the PCM use OD until close to 100° +/-. This sensor determines the shift skeds, conv lock up and system pressures. ref 29-4. |
