Newbie with tranny question

My father in-law needs to know if a 1989 f150 overdrive transmission will fit into a 1992 f150 with electronic overdrive transmission.

He's not internet savvy so I thought I would check around for him. The only specs I have for both vehicles are that they are "302's" and not 4x4

any help would be great!

Model: AOD
Type: Four speed non electronic

Engines: 300, 302

Howdy and welcome!, the two trannys are different in a few ways but you could do it. Different lengths for one, so you'd need a different drive shaft. The AOD is controlled by a TV cable to the throttle body so you'd need to install that. The shifter has a linkage instead of a cable. When you remove the E4OD, the computer will throw a hissy and store all the codes for the "broken" E4OD. Won't affect the engine, but will set a check engine light.
