Ford Taurus

I have recieved a lot of great advice on this site for my turck and need a little help with my taurus. Can anyone tell me what the thick rubber piece in-between the motor and trany is. It is held in with two flat head screws. I did tightened the screws holding this part in. But I have no clue so please help me.

You must have a 24 vale motor . All that thing is , is a dust cover for torque converter nut access.

SO nothing should be leaking from it correct? If that is correct I have more issues than I originally thought

No, If it is trans fluid coming from inside it is the front input seal leaking. If it is oil, most likely to be the oil pan gasket.

It is a 2000 with the 24 DOHC motor in it. We rebuilt the motor in it as 107,000 miles. And now it has 118,000 miles on it. It is my beater car since I travel so much for work.

Been there and done that. My 98 24 valve was a fun car to drive, but a mechanical nightmare. Powerstearing rack went out twice, engine problems, and when the front tranny seal started leaking when it got warmed up I traded it for a honda. It is verry expensive to fix a front seal in that.
