94 302 F150 4x4 w/E4OD replacement yrs?

Hi guys,

I've been searching the site and reading posts for 3 hours+ and haven't been able to spot what I'm looking for. Based on all the great posts on this site it's probably here but I'm just not finding it. :o

The E4OD in my 94 F150 4x4 is shot and I'd like to replace it instead of doing a rebuild. What years and models can I "drop in" (same bell housing, no mds to the drive shaft, etc.) to get this old girl back on the road?

Will the F250 swap out OK?, the 351? etc...

Thanks

'95+ have the beefed up upgrades from the factory. Your F150 engine choices limit you to only gettin a tranny from only behind a 300, 302 or 351. The others have a different bell pattern.

I remember readint the '96s have a different wiring harness, but it's not a big deal to move some pins around.

adrianspeeder,

Thanks for your help. After digging through this forum for the past couple of days I figured you'd be the man with the answer. I had seen your "sticky" that hokeyfanjeff is pointing to, but figured that wasn't sugesting that all those years and engines were easily interchangeable. Particularly since I knew the 2x4 won't drop into a 4x4.

Anyway, Thanks. I've been looking at a low milelage 95 F250 with a 351 that now I'm going to jump on! My 94 may have some cruzin left in her yet. :D

Yeah, sorry bout that, look at the C6 to see how I'm settin it up for bell housing differences. Just got to get some time to do the rest.

That 95 will bolt right in and on the off chance the connector is different, a haynes manual will have the diagrams to get ya fixed up.

You can do a 4x4/4x2 swap if ya tear the whole thing down and change the tailshaft. Not really an issue for people rebuilding anyway.

Do you have a digi cam? I'd be grateful for some overhead and front end shots of the tranny.

Thanks, your transmission database has great info in it, nice job... but I guess there's always gonna be someone looking for something that isn't there (sorry bout that:o ).

I've been using the Motorcraft Online Service manuals, I'll check the schematics and connector pinouts to configure the hookup properly. I suspect I may have to swap a connector as well.

I'm also considerin a 97 from a 4x4, 351 (same mileage, shorter drive, <$) do you see any roadblocks to that?

Will snap a couple of pictures of the tranny when I drop it. It's going to be a little while though......still working on my honey-do list.;)

Nope, should be the same thing. Now watch some people scratch their heads "97?, 351?" lol.
