'01 F-150 4x2 approx 70k miles 4R70W Trans
Other than a leak is there anything that could cause the trans fluid level to be so low that it only registers on the very tip of the dipstick. The fluid was changed at 60k and was still showing full at 65k.
The reason I ask is yesterday I developed what I thought was a trans leak so I checked the fluid level and found it was low so I took it to the dealership (still under warranty) and told them this. Apperantly the tech. saw once it was on the lift the steering gearbox went (I thought this was no longer a big problem with fords) so that is what he fixed. When I went to pick up the truck at the end of the day they advised me that the trans. was low I said ok thinking that they may have corrected the problem, so just for the hell of it when I got home I checked it myself and found that it was still at the same low level it was at when I took it in.

dirtyd0g: As of 65k the trans was full, I checked it myself when changing the oil
Peladu: The paper work said they replaced the power steering gear box and fluid, no were does it say they even looked at the trans. even though right on the top where it list customer comments it say trans. leak
