What year is it? It sounds like you may have a broken 1-2 accumulator spring in the transmission.

2000 would it send a code

I have an 05 F150 that would bang hard from 1st to 2nd. Ended up being a pcm reflash to reset the shift points. I know a few guys with this problem, all with TEM6 and TEM7 pcm codes and reflash fixed it. Just another approach to consider, since mine did not throw any trans codes either and it felt so bad I thought I needed trans work...

I have the same problem as you but mine happens after my truck warms up a little. If I'm in stop and go traffic then after about 20 shifts or so it starts to happen. Right when i start it up everything is fine.

Would I have the same problem as you and how exactly did you fix it

oops, I missed the reply earlier.
It won't throw a code on a broken spring because it all works as far as the computer is concerned.
I would think that if it needed a reflash that it would have been this way originally. Your program doesn't change over time and any adjustments made by the ECU can be undone by resetting the computer. You can unhook the battery for a while to do that.
