Question What Stall???

I'm switching from 3.55 gears and 31.8" tires on a 03 F 150 (9.75 rear 8.8 front) to 4.10 gears and 32.8" tires. The Truck has a 5.4L engine with a 4R70W trans and Borg Warner 4406 transfer case. I want to retain what towing ability the truck has but add a stall conveter. I know nothing about 4R70W stall converters but would venture to say that stock is around 1600 to 1800 and I don't want to go over 2400 or so. This truck is daily driven (mostly highway) and will eventually have long tubes with a magnaflow SISO exhuast, Pred tune, cool air intake and e fans (basic Bolt ons). SO the question is what should I look for in a conveter? I also plan on rebuilding the trans with a factory rebuild kit (compelete kit only costs 170 bucks shipped) and some type of shift kit/valve body set up. So what I'm asking for is tranny guys input on how to set this thing up.

If you get a well built converter with a good clutch in it a little extra stall won't hurt anything.
I build converters so I am familiar with your options.
The stock converter in your 5.4 was rated at about 1500. The 4.6 trucks have a converter rated to about 1800. The 4.2 trucks have a 2000 stall. I suggest an 11&1/4 converter with a stall of about 2400-2600 but the 2800 combination will work very well. Darrin here on the forums has a 2800 in his truck and loves it.
If you want more details or have any other questions feel free to email me.

Yes I'll have to shoot you a e mail. I think 2600 or 2400 sounds good. I'm guessing for trail driving I'll need to add a fan cooled trans cooler (the factory one looks small and has no real cooling value when not in motion). What companys make some good stalls? You personally make them? Sounds interesting. I'll definatly have to get more info from you.
