wanted to get a few things straight on trannies

I am going from an auto to a manual in due time. I have got a few things happening right now, one on this website and one on another website, where someone is thinking of selling me a manual tranny.

I just want to know the year range of the tranny I need. Does it have to been within the year of my truck?

Does everything else, clutch master/slave cylinders and pedal assembly have to be within the year ranges of my truck?

MY truck is an 89 f150 with a 302
Does the tranny HAVE TO BOLT UP TO A 302 MOTOR OR CAN IT BE A TRANNY FROM A DIFFERENT MOTOR?

Do I need the bellhousing or can I use the housing off of mine since it is a 302?

Thanks.

You need the bell housing with the standard trans, flywheel, clutch, replace the pedals in the cab, the clutch operating hardware, shifter hardware. Possibly a different length drive shaft. Hook up the VSS speed sensor. Hook up the standard neutral safety switch.

Well what tranny will you be getting or want. The Mazda M5OD is what ford used stock with the 300 and 302 in the F150s. Any M5OD from the mid 80s up till now will work. The ZF5 is what is in the heavier trucks, and would take more work to make fit.
