Your welcome Gil and thanks for the praise. It was nice meeting you and your wife too. I was probably passed out by the time you got home I was worn slick out.

Dirty, you mind if I ask what mods you had to make to the tranny to make the 2000 model work for the '97? I have a '97 and would like to expand my available tranny options. Thought I'd ask it here rather than a PM so others can benefit.

The electronics are different. You can move the pins around or swap the older style harness in. I found a swap article showing how to swap the pins on modular depot. I believe it is a sticky in the thunderbird/cougar section. I'm up in cincinnati so if you feel like going for a drive I can show you what you need to know.

Found the article, appreciate the help. I'm still trying to decide what to do about my tranny. I'm having the 40-45 mph light throttle "shudder" even after flushing the trans, draining the converter, and refilling with Merc V. I thought about buying all the parts to do the Jmod, Sonnax valve upgrade, etc but I'm still not sure that would cure it since the converter clutch may be glazed/toast by now. I found some '99 and '01 trannies here locally and was gathering info on the swap.

The converter clutch is fried. Replace the converter and I can get you some directions to improve lockup flow that are not part of the jmod. Don't jmod a truck valvebody. If you want to jmod it you have to change valvebodies.

Know of a good place to get an inexpensive converter with a drain plug and a similar stall to the stock one?

Let me know about the valve body improvements. Thanks again.

I build torque converters. Email me at dirtyd0gus@yahoo.com and I will get yout he valve body directions. Might I suggest a Factory Tech Valve body? Troyer Performance sells them. If you are looking for better performance, Factory Tech converters are really nice, I promise. Troyer Performance can get those too, they'll have to contact Gregg, who will have to contact me, and I'll build it up.

Use caution when going by those directions. It is very easy to reverse everything. I suggest getting a wiring schematic from both vehicles to make sure everything is correct.
