slipping clutch?

I have a 1990 f150 with a 5 speed manual tranny. The other day we had the truck stuck in the mud in the bush on a hill (only 2wd). We tried for an hour or two to turn it around and get it out but to no avail. During that time I took great care to ensure i wasn't slipping the clutch too much to avoid burning it out. I really reved it up though (to try and get the truck unstuck) but i let out the clutch completely as soon as a could. Eventually had to get it out with the tractor the next day but noticed right away that my shifting gears in the truck was suddenly a lot smoother. Is this a sign of a clutch that is now slipping? Everthing else seems to be normal but the shifting was noticeably different. Engaging the truck in first gear also became a lot easier and smoother...did i wear out the clutch? Tried the fourth-gear-slipping-clutch test and the engine stalled so i guess it can't be that bad.....just want to know if the newly smooth shifting is a result of clutch wear or would there be any other reason?

It's possible that water might've gotten into the transmission, which would've raised the oil level. When's the last time you checked the Tranny oil? I'd check it again now to see if there's water in it. If there is, then you've gotta get it all out of there or major damage could result.

Take the truck and get up to about 40 mph place truck into 4/or 5th gear if you have a 5th and floor it. If the tach climbs and speed does not you got issues if the truck just lugs with no tach climbing you are fine and oyea change the fluid quickly.
