Stripped Threads

Okay, I figured I would change the oil in my transmission being I bought the truck used. The drain plug in the transmission was in supertight. For awhile I didn't think that I was going to get it out. Well I got it out, and I noticed that it was snug all the way out. After draining the ATF I could not get the thing tight enough to stop the drip. I think the threads aren't holding. How do I fix it so that it will stop leaking? I have even tried a new washer. Thanks,
Bob

for a stripped plug, I'm pretty sure you can get slightly over sized
plugs that are self tapping.
another fix would be to put it back in with metalset or jb weld
or braze it in the hole.

Better Idea

I could not find an oversized self tapping drain plug for a standard shift. After asking other ideas and driving all over town I found at Pep boys a 5/8" rubber oil pan drain plug that had a locking wingnut that works perfectly. I tried a 3/4 expanding rubber plug but it was too big. I hope this will help someone who had or has the same problem. Bob
