Clutch Pedal Question

I've got a 1999 4x4 reg cab, 4.6, 5 speed manual; the question I have is that the clutch pedal has about 1 inch of play before it engages. The clutch seems to work normally after it engages, and the truck drives wonderfully. Is the 1 inch of play in the pedal normal? If it isn't, does anyone know of an easy fix?

My 98 4.2 5sp has about 1/2-3/4" free play and has had since brand new. I replaced the slave cyclinder at about 80,000 miles and it has the same free play as before. I would say it's normal, but, I'm no expert, just a guy who does most of his own work on his truck. Hope it helps and good luck.

Sounds pretty like what my '00 reg cab 4x4 4.6 5-speed has. I'll check it out and let you know if I find differently.

Thanks for the responce guys, guess that 1/2" to 3/4" play is normal and I'll just have to get used to it. Other than that, the manual rocks, I would never ever think of ever having anything other than this 5 speed.
