brake controller

I have a 2004 f-150 supercrew with tow package. Does anyone know how to hookup a brake controller. I heard I need a adapter to hook it up under the dash.

You can cut and splice wires, or just get your brake controller vendor to sell you an adaptor that will allow direct plug in to an exisiting (factory) under dash socket.
Cost me about $7 extra and saved a ton of time. Did whole job including a neat/careful job on the mounting bracket (for my Prodigy controller, which btw, is MUCH better than my old DrawTite) and it took under 30 minutes, at night,by flashlight. 15 during the day, I'd guess.

x2 on what he said...

wherever you get your controller from (Tekonsha Prodigy recomended), for a few extra bucks, get a wiring harness for it specific to your truck. Makes it completely plug'n'play. Makes wiring the unit up actually easier than mounting it.

3x for the Prodigy and the factory harness. Simple plug and play and 10 min total install time.

You SHOULD HAVE received a relay and harness with your truck for the towing package.

If your truck has the towing package, then the relay is already insatlled. There is an unwired harness that is in your glovebox. However, they're talking about a prewired harness, so you don't have to hook up any wires, just plug it in and go.

Mines just under the steering wheel, toward the bottom of the panel.

Mine's under the steering wheel, on the metal bracket. Near the parking brake... Works good there it is hidden out of site, but easily seen if need be! Installed on 06 Scab...

My Prodigy is on the right side of the steering wheel at the bottom of the dash. The Prodigy will allow more angle mount than any other controller.

With the Prodigy you can't feel the trailer brakes at all unless you want to. It is a digital proportional advanced accelerometer type of controller. It senses momentum of the vehicle but applies current proportional to the weight, speed, and rate of decent. The Prodigy monitors the connection and the trailer. It will let you know if it's hooked, unhooked or if there is a problem with the wiring. It also has a boost feature that you can set for the wieght of the trailer vs. the weight of the truck. I love mine. Nice smooth stops, no jerking or banging and easy to adjust. Set it once and forget it. It even has proportional braking in reverse.

You sell these too, don't you? If you don't you sound like a sales person.
