Adding a towpackage

I have an '05 FX4 SCAB with a 3.73 rear end and it didnt come with a tow package. I already installed a reciever, but I am wondering how to install a 7 pin connector along with a brake controller. The truck came with a 4 pin so I am wondering if there is already a harness in the rear somewhere that I can just buy a tail and have an easy install or if I will have to run wires all the way to the front. Thanks for your help.

The short answer is yes you can buy the proper 7-pin connector and just replace your 4-pin. You can get a 7 and 4 pin combined unit.

the wires are already ran from front to back. You will need 1 or 2 relays etc.

You can get prodigy controller and a premade cable and just plug into a connector under the dash by steering column. www.rjays.com is one place to buy controller and cable.

It's best to do a search on "7-pin" and "Brake Controller" as there is dozens of posts on this and my 99' is slightly different.

If you had all the parts you could do it all in less than 1 hour........
