Exclamation Front end problem...

When I brake or accelerate my 1998 F250LD 4x4, I get a solid "clunk" in the steering wheel. The ride has also gotten worse since this started.
I'm jacking it up tonight to do the front brakes, what should I look at that might be loose or broken.

Also, where is that little bottle jack supposed to be placed when jacking up the truck?

Thanks

Since you get it from stop and start, putting the front end on jack stands should allow you to reproduce this clunk just by pushing and pulling on different parts.

Could be any one of the suspension or steering links but it sounds to me like a brake caliper may be loose.

Front end noise

I've had noise coming from my left front side, so I took it over to a mechanic I know. After looking around, he told me to go over the bumps with the brakes applied and guess what? No noise. Drove the truck home, took off the tire and the CALIPER WAS LOOSE.
