Has anyone had difficulty removing the front spindleon a 2x4 assembly.
I am having difficulty dropping the spindle after the bolts are removed.
I have a 93 ford f150 6 cyl.

ON my 98, we had to hit the top of the spindle Once with a hammer, and it dropped to the ground.

Never really removed a spindle from a twin I beam suspension but I have herd that you need to heat the king pins up and beat them out with a punch or similar tool. Not sure if thats how to do it, all I know is the king pins do need to be removed.

Thanks for the help!

The problem was they loaned me the wrong tool for the job. I needed the ball joint press and they gave me a wedge that was even the wrong size for my vehicle.

Once I came up with the fact that I didn't need the lower ball joint because I was going to replace it. I felt it was o.k to give it a wallup with the ole hammer. The spindle obviously came along with it. And I could press out the joints with the press. Do Ball joints usually go out in pairs....I.e do I have to change the upper and lower joints on the passenger side? I still feel a bit o bounce but can't tell whether that's my imagination or not.
