Sway bar linkage replacement
I took my vehicle to have some front end parts replaced a few weeks ago.
This week a loud banging started and it was discovered the sway bar linkage is broken. The repair shop wanted $180 + to replaced. Screw that. I want to look into doing it myself. Has anyone else done this before and if so how involved is it? |

If you're talking about replacing the front anti-sway bar end-links, it's very simple. It takes about 10 minutes. Go buy a new "PAIR", and pop them on. The anti-sway bar is held in place as you do it by the center/frame bushings. The bar just hinges up when you unbolt what end-links you have left.

Thanks for the heads up. I think that's exactly what they're refering to. I'm going to check it out later on today. |

You're Welcome !! Good luck, it's very simple and cheap.

You will get the best price on endlinks at
http://www.fordpartsonline.com/ With the truck up on jack stands, to disconnect/connect the endlinks, use a jact to raise and lower the arm to take tension off the swaybar endlinks. |
Update:
I'm pissed. I looked at the sway bar linkage over the weekend. It was *NOT* broken. The top-mount bolt was missing! Firestone either deliberately or accidently loosened the bolt and tried to sale me a bunch of crap! I bought a replacement linkage and installed it and did it much cheaper than the $180+ I was quoted. Good news is I learned something new about my truck so that's cool! |

Good for you !! They sound like the typical "monkeys". If you want a job done right, do it yourself.
