squeaky steering
Is the squeak usually come from the pitman arm or the ball joints on the control arms. I was told it is usually the pitman arm and you need to grease it or replace it?

I got the same problem with my truck! and when I get off my lazy ass and fix it I will let you know.

Squeaky Steering
The problem is most likely your pitman arm. Mine was raising hell and so I had it replaced at about 51,000 miles. No problems since.

I have the same problem, but...
Just wondering what a new pitman arm will cost?? How about having a ford garage that charges $50/hr to do it?? Any guesses??
I would do it myself but if I am correct, I think a puller is needed and I do not have one. |
the pitman arm costs about $25, but go ahead and pay the guys at the dealer. it's a pain in the a@#. if you get a good front end guy it'll only take hime about 20 minutes but it'll take you a good 2 hours,no offince intended, i just did mine at the ford dealer(i used to work there) we faught that sob for a good hour, the my good buddy decided to help. it took him about ten minutes. you could imagine i had a few choice words for him!
