99 F150 4WD Front Shock Length
A while ago I tightened up my torsion bars to level the truck. I didn't max them out, I went maybe a couple turns on each side. I've noticed now that the shocks in the front do not seem like they are long enough.
I got the shocks on Rockauto.. They should be the correct ones
KYB 565006 MonoMax .. supposed to be good for 0-1" lift.
The top washer that secures the shock to the frame has been pounded so that the washer is shaped like a bowl now. The shorter length of the shock limits the lower control arm from reaching full unsprung travel and is pounding the snot out of the upper bushing and washer by the looks of it.
When replacing the front shocks, should the shock be under slight compression even with the suspension fully unloaded?
Are aftermarket shocks required for a torsion bar increase? Has anyone else encountered this?
