Question Broken driver side leaf spring.Replacement recommendations?

Truck info: 2008 F150 s-crew Limited, 4wd/Awd, 5.4L v8
mileage: 84,200

so i heard a rattle while driving home from Ny last night, 90 mile trip, and i heard a rattle. pulled over seen the driver side rear was sagging, looked underneath and noticed the broken leaf spring(middle leaf). made it home ok. Now obviously i have to replace it, should i upgrade to a better spring or stick to a factory leaf? i have a factory setup in back, looks like a 3-leaf, 1-5/8 pack thickness i believe. I seen some people say its a good opportunity to upgrade to a better spring. also where is a good place to order from that ships quickly? I didnt want to spend to much but if i have to, my budget is No more then $600

I would aprreciate the help and info.( I never replaced a leaf spring before, i am mechanically inclined so i will do it myself. )

Thanks, Anthony

Broken leaf spring

Truck Info: '08 F150 XLT 'screw 4x4

hi Anthony

I just had one of my drivers side leaf springs go as well. How did you get the bolt out of the shackle on the front part, near the fuel tank? Did you need to drop the tank?

i had the entire leaf spring off and ready to be removed, i tried loosening the straps for the gas tank, that only gave me so much room. i finally threw in the towel, and had my buddy do it. he had to drop the whole tank to get that 1 bolt out. he charged be $150.

you either drop the tank, or cut the bolt and put a new 17$ one from the dealer(in canada...must be 5$ in the US ) or any other graded bolt from your favorite supplier.

Way easier, faster to cut it.
