so got the FX2 leveled with no prob, started on my FX4, relized I needed a strut compressor, compressed the strut and started in with it... and doh!! the CV joint came out and now i have a rubber boot full of steel ***** and not sure how to get it back together. anybody have this issue? or know how this spaghetti mess goes back together? its an 09 FX4, all the peices look good just they are not in the right places...
FX4 leveling update...
ok got the passenger side done, this more of a task than I anticipated, tearing into the driver side again, going to pull the axle and tryn figure out how that stinkin CV joint goes back together...

Are you just using a leveling kit and what size?? I've got a HBS 2" puck and when I installed it I disconnected the upper and tied it off....don't want to fall out when you disconnect everything. When I put the puck in it I unbolted my lower as well you help put the strut in place. Using all air tools it was a pretty quick job. Good luck
done...
both leveling kits were 2in from tuff country that require you rotate the strut which made the process a little tougher, I got all the tools ya need pneumatic wrenchez gun etc... just a little rusty havent wrenched much last few years. I got the CV joint back together it was a pain in the .... the passenger side went fine after I knew what I was doin then went back to the driver side and installed the strut w/ the leveling kit on, then reinstalled the axle. got the new tires on the wifes FX2 today as well it looks just right not to high and 4x4 lookin but real clean put 265/70/18 BF rugged terain on it, after doing a 2x4 and a 4x4 id say for a 4x4 take the axle out easy as pie put the strut in and reassemble made life easy...

Damn, the 09's required you to compress the strut and all that...Jeez, my 06 FX4 was just undo the tie rod (dont necessarily have to but a ton easier), 3 upper strut nuts, sway bar, and take out lower strut bolt. Then to re-install you just needed to put a little leverage on the UCA to get the bottom bolt back on. Used a crow bar nice and gently on the spring and it popped back in.
Glad you got it all set though. Bet the trucks look much better now!!

Trucks look great
ya the 09 4x4 was a bear to install thought the strut compressor was going to break... the 2x4 was easy, and ya both trucks look great and the wife loves the leveled FX2 w/ 265/70/18 on it... just need to hurry up an wear out my tires so I can put bigger ones on
