Project DirtShark: 97-03 Dixon Brothers 4x4 Long Travel Suspension

Thought I would make a little build thread on my truck. Took the DBR kit and made a little modification to it to accommodate my needs. There will be more to come, I want to try and fit a 3.0x10" triple bypass in there somehow, and after that I'm going to link the truck after i figure out exactly how I'm going to go about it. Somewhere in between I would like to stuff a johnny lightning performance short block with a kenne bell supercharger to give her the get up and go I want. It should be a fun project and hopefully by the time its done I can enter in on truck of the month! If your ever in the Arizona desert keep your eyes peeled, DirtShark might just be lurking..

Yea I can completely understand that, still though the truck looks nasty. When do you think your gonna get around to the rear suspension?

I love the mods. Just remember, when you make these mods, it may void your warranty with Ford. I once had a brand new radio stop working when the truck was only 20k miles. But they wouldn't touch it because it wasn't the one that came with the truck. I bought it from Amazon. The seller had good reviews and the radio was supposedly new. But you know how mods are, YMMV. Suspension change like this would probably be the same.

Umm most of us with trucks this old don't have warranties anymore. But yes without a doubt cutting off the control arms would make your warranty null and void.

Ummmmmmm, Really??? No way that was a serious post!

fnnrNArnner74, is about all I can say. Spectatular fab work. If I were to be **** and really get nit-picky (which you certainly don't need), I'm surprised you mounted the coil-over reservoirs in that hot engine compartment. But I'll caviat that with I'm certain you thought of that and decided on it for a reason.

Thanks! Probably After summer. I need to get some bypasses up front first. I want to go with a 3.0x10" double or triple tube. It may or may not work with fitment and all but I will have to measure and decide on that coming up here soon enough. If I have to cut off the bypass tab and move it an inch or so forward giving me the extra room then I might do that. It sucks because I got everything powdercoated and now I have to almost grind it all off just to do these little tweaks ha. its alright though. it can all be repowdercoated.

Shoot I wish I did have a warranty to void! ha my trucks too old for that, and the days of warranty are longgg past. Maybe If I go get some raptor badges and take it down to the ford dealer and say its a retro concept raptor they might be fooled

the heat from the engine really doesn't effect the reservoirs like you would think. They are made from some of the best materials out there and can withstand any heat that would be generated from the engine with no effect on shock fade. I've seen a couple guys do it and they've never said a word about it effecting anything and the beat the living **** out of their trucks. If for some weird reason I do get shock fade from it I will change it and mount it differently but I don't think it should be a problem.
heres a link to the shocks in case your curious to their make up:

Nice man, sounds like you have a pretty good plan on what you want to do. Since your going to link the truck are you gonna go ahead and cage it all too or just do the backhalf?
