Limited slip Diff
Limited slip Diff
Well thinking at regearing the rear end to 4.10 so I can roll a set of 33s. My question is how can I tell if my rear end is limited slip, and how important is it to have a limited slip diff in a 2wd truck?
Get the axle code from inside the door jamb and then just google it. And a ls makes a huge difference in the snow and other bad conditions. That with the right set of tires, weight in the bed, and knowing how to drive in those conditions has taken me places most 2wd's would just dream of.
19 — 3.55 non-limited slip (Econoline, F-150)
18 — 3.08 non-limited slip (F-150)
17 — 3.31 non-limited slip (Econoline)
H9 — 3.55 limited slip (F-150, F-250)
B6 — 3.73 limited slip (F-150, F-250)
There you go. Looks like you don't have a lsd since you have 3.08 gears unless someone else added it to the axle.

Hmmm what a shock!
Ok well hmmm what can I expect in the way of price tag for installing a LS unit into my truck?
A buddy of mine is doing the gears and knows how to do the LS just unsure what to expect price wise.

It shouldn't be much more in labor because the gears will be out anyways, but you still have to pay parts cost. I'd recommend just getting a locker back there instead it'll perform better and parts won't be much more.
