Question about Fabtech

I was looking at the fabtech 6" lift for 2wd 06 f150 and it says it comes with front shocks. I wanted to use bilstiens in the front to level out my truck while lifting it. will I be able to just use the bilsteins?

Get the fabtech kit. Then you will need the bilstein 6-8" coilovers if you were wanting the look of a 6" plus a level. Or you could just add a 2" AS kit to the fabtech.

Basically it's the strut with built in coil spring, which is what all of the 04-08's use as their suspension.

The first Fabtech lifts for the 04 and up F-150's came with a longer coilover shock. The newer kits come with a 6 inch spacer that you bolt to your OEM coilover shocks, like the Pro Comp Stage 1 lift. You need to verify what the kit you are buying comes with.

so the coil over is just the spring that goes over the shock? is it just to take pressure off the shock?

and, If the fabtech uses 6" spacers does that mean I cant use a leveling kit too to level out the front end?

here is a pro comp kit. http://4wheelonline.com/Products.asp...roductId=68634 (the 1st one)
it looks like it comes with new "springs" (as i call them) does this mean I could use 2" spacers in the front to level it out?

also, which kit is better? the fabtech k2000 or the pro comp i linked above? they are about $200 differnce

The pro comp kit you linked looks like it's the stage 2 which means it comes with the new coilovers instead of the spacer. If you get that then yes you can add a 2" level to it.

sweet, so if i got the procomp i linked and 2" spacers for the front i would be good?

EDIT: So i just searched the part number on that procomp lift(EXP-K4138B) and one site said it is a 6"front/3"back(which would explain the rear 3"blocks, and another site said it was 6"front/rear...same part number

Bilstein makes coilovers for this application? If so, where would I find one?

They make a coil over shock, but you still need to put a spring on it.

http://www.bilsteinus.com/products/l...-coilover.html

From their site:
Special Notes:

Bilstein does not manufacture or sell coil springs for off-road use. However, most Bilstein off-road retailers sell springs. They can also offer advice on spring rates.
It is not recommended to use a coilover in conjunction with an auxiliary spring source, such as Leaf Springs or Torsion Bars.
I think maybe Buxton was talking about the Dirt Logic coilovers that you can get with the Fabtech kits? Not sure.

No the fabtech kit's use to come with a coilover in the front, but i guess now they just come with the 6" spacer. They weren't the adjustable dirt logics that you get with their stage 2 or whatever it's called. It was just a regular 6" coilover shock nothing real fancy or adjustable.

so if i can only get the kit with the 6" spacers, can I use bilstien shocks to level it out? or do I have to use the shocks it comes with?

Yes you can either get the bilstein 2" leveling coilovers, or get the bilstein 6-8" coilovers and take out the 6" spacer. The 2" coilovers are probably cheaper. If so go that route.

yea, you're correct.

about not getting the shocks in the kit, you will need to speak with who ever you are looking to buy the kit from and ask if it's possible.

are you planning to buy the kit thru a shop or online? a shop will be the most helpful and be able to explain exactly what you want to know and probably have visual aids of some sort which will help tremendously.
