Can't figure it out?
I called up to my local ford shop and my local 4x4 shop today and had them price install on a set of 4.56 gears. The Ford dealer priced me at $2,400 for install and I thought that was insanely high, so then I called the 4x4 shop and they priced me at $2,225.....? Thats the price for just install not gears, WTH? That seems way high, now is it just me or could that be right?

Does that price include a bottle of lubricant
Usually the going price is about $1200-1600 which includes the gears.
maybe that 4x4 shop knows the dealer price and just wants to drop their price slightly. call a few more shops.
Yea I was going to call some more because I know people on here have said they get it done for $250 an axle and with the price they gave me thats $1,200 an axle and I really can't be spending 5x the amount because thats crazy.
Usually the rear gears are cheaper, your front is where most of the labor cost is since they have to take your front crossmember off to get to it.
I just dont get why its so much more here....
