I'm trying to get the overall height of my truck to 5'10" for clearance purposes in parking at home and work and it seems a lot places lol. Its a 2010 Ford F150 Supercab 4x4 XLT/XTR, and I can't seem to find the one answer I was hoping to. I'd like to keep a nice ride (not bouncy or stiff), be able to still throw a dirt bike or something in the bed and tow a trailer if needed, sit level or a very slight rake. Also, I want it to be durable, don't want to have to replace axles, or struts in a few thousand km. Advice please and thanks.
Mak

Sooo .... how much height do you need to loose to get it to that 5'10" overall ... or less? We have the "target" now, but we don't know from where we are "shootin" ....

In my case, the first two inches only required me to have one exhaust pipe of the catback system modified where it kicked over the rear end and I have same travel and load capacity as it was stock.

Thanks, appreciate the welcome, sorry to start with a question. I'm usually more of a lurker/info gather on forums, just can't seem to find a complete answer for my problem.

Right now she is 100% stock, and according to google and eye balling the roof against a tape she is at 6'2 1/2" (72.5"). So i would need to go about 4.5 inches down at the top of the roof line. To get it level, obviously the back would need to go down more than the front, and I'd assume that would drop the rearward/peak of the roof down a bit more.

So I was thinking, 3/5 but that would cut it close, and I'm not sure if the "kits" available to drop it 3/5" actually translate to a real 3/5" or they work out to more or less.

Also, I gather going much lower or even that low will put quite an angle on the axles up front.

Perhaps, if someone has a 2010 XLT 4x4 Supercab and have a kit installed they could measure it for me?

Any advice would be appreciated, don't want to end up paying out to get the work done and have it not work out, especially since moving to where I am now I don't have a place to do the work myself.

Mak

I looked back through this thread last night .... just "looking" ..... and there are a few who have dropped the amount you want .... some a couple years ago.

My suggestion is look back through here from start and send a PM to each who have dropped a 4x4 that much asking for:
  • overall height,
  • any problems in use,
  • any observations to offer,
  • year,
  • tire sizes or diameter.

You can always recover your load capacity with the addition of "Air Lift" or similar products if needed after lowering.

Mine is detailed in post #251, but mine is not low enough for you. You can PM after so many posts .... I think .... so get that post count up!

Thank you much! and I'd be leery of gloss black, unless you have more gloss black accents, I'd go satin.

Just received some new lower ball joints and lower control arm bushings, going to try and knock them out next weekend. Going to rent a ball joint separator and torsion bar unloader to make it easier on me.

Hey What size tires are you running? I have mine lowered a bit but I'm really close to rubbing if I go any lower. I'm on 285/70r/17
