What's the difference??
I don't have a big IQ when it comes to suspension, so I might be asking a stupid question. What is the difference between 2wd lifts and 4wd lifts? All I can find for my '05 2wd is the 6" lifts, but the 4wd guys can get a 4" lift. That's all the lift I need for my truck. Can the 4wd lifts fit on the 2wds???

4wd lifts will not fit on a 2wd. there is a lot more stuff in the front end that 4wd lifts have to drop and have brackets for, but a 4in. lift on a 2wd would only be like a 2in. on a 4wd which means you couldn't even run 35's properly. what size tire are you wanting to run?

It's not a crazy question since the suspension design for the 04-10 4x4 and 4x2 trucks is the same. I've always wondered if the lifts were the same, with just a few 4x4 related parts left out. I know I've read of 4x2 Chevy HD's using 4x4 lifts as there suspensions are also the same. I've never seen it done it done on a Ford however.

a 6" on ur 2wd would be like a 4" on a 4x4

All I really want is another 2 inches on my truck anyway. I already have a 2.5" leveling kit.

the strut is I think 1" longer on the 4wds, but I don't know if you could fit the 4wd shocks on the 2wds. That would be my answer to my problem, but I'm too afraid to try it without knowing for certain.

The big difference is the spindle.
|
does the hub bolt on different or something?
|
There is no hub on 2wd just a rod that sticks out that the bearings and wheels sit on. The hole on the 4wd spindles is not there on 2wd.
|
ok that explains it then. Question answered. Thanks

Has anyone heard of using the 4wd shocks/struts on the 2wds to get the 1-2" difference?

I guess I'll have to be the guinea pig for this.
