Post Leveling Kit

Hows it goin everybody

I am about to install a 3" leveling kit on my 2004 F150 this weekend, and although i have instructions with the kit i would really like something to look at thats labeled to get an idea of what i'll be doing before i actually do it. i've never done any extensive work past the tires and was wondering if anyone knew where i could look at a diagram of the sway bar, control arms, cotter key, arm ball joint, etc...

first off, welcome to the site.

second, 3" is THE max and the angles arent good for daily driving. 2.5 should be your max.

check out the technical articles. i havent looked yet but if there isnt one i will post one myself. its pretty easy to install. you really dont need a diagram of anything, just one step at a time. i think one member has posted a how to on the AS kit. tomorrow i will post a how to on the kit i have. should help.

there are a few pieces of advice like :use a limiting strap to hold the upper control arm to the spindle to not extend the cv axle or bind lower ball joints. be careful of the upper ball joint to not strip the threads. its a pita to fix. the upper control arm will be very low hitting the coil be will be fine when the truck has its own weight down.

give these a try. the first one is pretty thorough, the second mostly shows some photos of the relevant anatomy. i planned to use them myself, but ran out of time and had the front done at a shop. still did the rear on my own. hope this helps.

Also look on youtube. There are 2 videos. They may or may not be the kits that you have, but procedure is basically the same.
