stock gears and 38's????????
ok so i know everyone says you need 4 88's with 38" tires which i have sitting at work on my tool box cause i jsut got my 38's on but i drove it with stock gears and on the highway im at about 500 rpm less at 70 mph then i am with the stock 30" tires. i can see it putting more strain on the truck in town when leaving a stop sign or stop light but is this ok to drive on the highway???????? like if anything wont this give me better gas mileage cause im at a lower rpm its a 5.4 l with 3 55 posi diff

I feel like I'm pushing it with 3.55 gears and 35's. I can't imagine 38's.
i blew my transmission running stock gears with 37s not to long ago
same here wandell, its safe for a little time but i wouldnt push it hard
hmmm thanks for the input guys its just weird cause i really dont fell much difference i mean im not pushing my truck and using the 4x4 but jsut driving on the highway actually seems better other then my speedo being out by 20 km/h
Yeah i know you may not feel a big difference but when you get those gears installed you can deff feel a difference in how the truck reacts to them and also taking alot of stress off the tranny
38's and stock 3.55 sucks. I rode around like that for a few weeks and the truck was a complete dog. I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you know you're going to be regearing asap.

Being able to run 38s with stock gears just seems crazy? Yeah, Id regear thats goin to be hell on the trans, also if your liking the way it does on the interstate or highway maybe do 4.56s instead of 4.88s? Id definately recommend regearing.

i am re gearing it i already have the gears for the front and rear i just cant install them until next week so ive been driving around on stock gears for about a week now but ive been driving it really nicely and yah it sucks intown for stop and go but once its moving its alright
