35's on stock rims w/ leveling kit.
 

Hello all,
I need new tires for my 2004 4x4 screw and i was thinking about going to a larger tire on my stock rims. I already ordered a Hellbent 2.5" leveling kit. Can I fit 35x12.50x17 on my stock rims with the leveling kit with no rubbing if i trim the valence and a bit of the inside of the fender wells? Or should i just downgrade to a 33". The tires im looking at are the BFG KM2's or MT's. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

my buddy has a 06 with leveling kit and 35 BFG KM2s(i think) but he has 20 stock rims.
Im pretty sure there wasnt any need for trimming. ill ask him tomarrow and take some pics

They will fit but they will probably rub the control arms slightly at full steering lock.

What is your opinion on tire size to run on a stock rim with a 2.5" leveling kit? I def dont want to rub the control arm. I plan on going to a aftermarket rim in the near future as soon as money becomes avavilable. i just paid my truck off so its a bit tight right now. With the aftermarket rim (Moto Metal 951 R17) do you think they will still rub the control Arm?

I am pretty sure you need to stay to a 285 series tires to run 35's on stock rims to have zero rub issues. If you want to go wider, like a 305 (12.5" wide), you should be getting an aftermarket wheel with a 5.5" BS or run the risk of rubbing the control arms as stated. This is taking a leveling kit into affect.

I run a 20x9 with 4.5" of BS and a -12mm offset on 305-55-R20 (33x12.5) and had rubbing issues on the plastics due to the wheels sticking so far out of the wells. I went a little too shallow with the BS.

Since you want to add aftermarket wheels in the future, I'd go with a 285/70-17 (33x11.50) or a 305/65-17 (33x12.50).

Im going with the 2.5" leveling kit with Nitto Terra Grapplers 285/70/R17. I got a killer deal on them with the installation of the kit. Thanks for the help.

when i went to buy my tires the guy said he never heard of a 305/65/17.. but ive seen them on hankooks website.. lol

Well I ended up getting the 295/70/R17 instead. My guy had them in stock in load range "d" which he told me would make for a softer ride and they are a bit taller than the 285. Im waiting on him to call me now so I can go pick it up. Im so excited to see it. I swear i have checked my phone ever 5 mins just to see if he has called. the old BFG muds as well as the new KM2s are actually pretty short for a 35" being between 34"-34.5" really.

the 305/65/17 are a real size I had them in pro comp X-ATs, usually the guys that work at shops like that are idiots and don't know a whole lot and are pretty biased to hear say meaning they hear other weirdo's say this or that is good or bad and pass it off as fact...

that's them on my truck back when I ran 33"s on 17"s, run 35"s on 20"s now...

can't really comment on the terra grapplers but I run toyos MTs now and can only imagine between my wife's toyo proxes and my open MTs the open ATs would be pretty nice. I recommend toyo's if anyone asks me what I think. LOOKS wise I prefer a knobby SS TSL/SX or Bogger or possibly mud grapps. but I'm sure u'll like the nitto's if u find u want longer lasting tires search up on the toyo's :)
