33's or 35's with Rancho 4 inch

i am currently running 33/13.5/18's with 3.73 gearing.

my question is if i upgrade to 35/12.5/18's will i see much difference?
besides a Slightly higher gearing affect due to the larger tires... considering i would still be turning about the same amount of rubber....

Thanks!

i had 32's and stepped up to 35's i did notice a big difference. i had the edge and 3.55's with 35's, it was OK but i live in pretty flat country too though. mileage was great 17+ on the highway. i would regear if you want the trans to last.

on the other hand guys run 37's with 3.73's and it works for them, so it's just about preference.

higher gearing would be better for around town and worse on the highway, higher rpms, less mpg's. but better takeoff ability.

Ok, I have 3.73's w/ my Rancho lift and I ran my 33's for 2 days after the install until I mounted my 35's. First off, if money is tight keep the 33's on there until you wear 'em down. To be perfectly honest, I didn't think the 33's looked all that bad.

Having said that, once I had the 35's mounted, sure it looks great but as far as the gearing is concerned, I did notice that it takes more throttle to launch. Bottom line: all around driveability is pretty good so regearing is not a critical must-have. I am sure 4.56's or 4.88's would be awesome but the cost-to-benefit ratio to me makes it low on my list of upgrade priorities. Be glad you have the 3.73's and when you go with 35's you'll be fine for a while (I assume you don't tow on a regular basis). As for gas mileage, according to the EDGE, I am down about 1.5 mpg on average.

We should hook up one weekend so you can check it out for yourself. I recall you're in my old home town of San Mateo (I used to live on Shoreview Ave)...I'm only in Fremont and can be down your way in about 20mins.

4.10 should be good for 35" tires. However, to go from 3.73 to 4.10, is just not enough gain for the trouble. If you go up to 35" tires, consider 4.56. But then again, with 4.56, your mileage will not be as good.

I ran 35x12.5x18's w/ my 3.73's for a little while and it felt just fine powerwise. I had a Hypertech programmer with the shift stiffness changed, the shift points modified and it set on premium fuel. You won't be unhappy with the performance as long as your nit unhappy with it stock.
