Suspension Lift Quesions - 2005 F-150 FX4

Hello all. I reciently purchased a 2005 F-150 FX4 CrewCab, wondering about how to lift the front with coil overs only. I understand the truck does not sit level in the front with stock configuration, how much lower is the front than the rear?

I was thinking about getting either King or Icon (new Donahoe company) coil overs. They say they can be cranked to give 2 to 3 inches of lift. Would doing this greatly increase the stiffness of the shocks and give a rough ride?

Anyone have any pictures with this configuration I want?

Thanks.

coilovers from what i have heard give you a great ride. you really dont need to spend the $$$ on coilovers IMO if you just want it level. just get a 2" autospring leveling kit, or adjustable bilsteins.

your front is roughly 2-2 1/2" lower in the front than rear

Well the look I am actually going for is for the front to be a little bit higher than the rear...if i just buy the coil overs and crank them to maybe 3" would that decrease the smooth ride? Could I combine the leveling kit with the King or Icon coilovers to acheive the heighth in the front and keep a smooth ride?

thanks for the replys

3" lift in the front is pushing the envelope, i would go no higher than 2.5"

there was a guy who had kings on the front but i forget his name, most guys won't spend that kinda coin when you can get the same amount of lift for less than 70 bucks

I say if you want the look of the truck being higher in front that you use a 2.5" spacer in front or a set of Bilstiens and then you remove the rear block or put a smaller one in. The oem block is 2" and I know you can buy a 1" one or just not run one at all like most of the 2wd's do. If you want more than 2.5" up front, it's the majorities opinion on this forum that you need to go w/ a full suspension lift. Check out www.jdfabrication.com They have a killer 4wd long travel pre-runner kit

Most people agree that 2.5 inches is the limit without getting the ball joint angles so severe that they won't last.

I recently installed the 2.5AS on my truck and it sits a little higher in the front than the rear. The ride is the same as the day I bought it.

If you have deep pockets then by all means get new coil overs, but for $80 I could not pass up the 2.5AS.
