Uncranked - Tbars
ok, today i am really depressed about uncranking the t-bars
just drove it for a quick spin for everything to settle down i know i have to get an alignment, but i am waiting for new tires i ordered the ride is extremely hard, every bump no matter how small results in metal to metal sound, left wheel is squeeling because out of line did i uncrank too much? (i backed the bolt all the way out, few turns to keep it in place) what is this metal to metal sound on the slightest bump? man i just might crank those tbars back to where they were. my ride before was smooth, straight and comfortable. please help |
so you made the front end go lower? if so, just tighten it a few threads and see how it is

Id say crank the bars back up slightly. maybe back so the truck is almost level again. see what that does. there might be a clearance issue with the lift kit and lower torsion bars. |
ok, i'll try that 4.2trimble
i was just about to order smaller blocks,(2") but seems like i may have to go with 3" since i got to crank back up. |
yeah id wait till you are sure its right before you order smaller blocks
|
is it really necessary to jack up the side you're adjusting the bar on?
|
not 100% necessary but its easier.
i jacked up the whole front end on mine |
on my way home, i'll have an update around 6pm
thanks for the help |
three complete rotations of the ratchet on each bolt, headed for a test drive
|
any news?
|
much improvement, but still slight occassional "clank", so i gave the bolts an additional 1 1/2 turn. better still but still a "clanky" like noise on hard bumps that wasnt there before. i'll hold it there until my new tires are mounted and aligned.
|
That "clank" could be a worn steering or suspension component. The ball joints and tie rod ends are high wear items on our trucks.

the clank wasnt there prior to me tampering with the tbars would you say its coincidental that the ball joints or tie rods are giving me problems now? |
It could be. I'd check them. Jack the front of the truck off the ground. Grab the tires at the 12 and 6 o'clock position and try to move it. If you can, it's the ball joints. Now grab the tire at the 9 and 3 o'clock position and try to move it. If you can, it's the tie rod ends.

too much clickity clank and squeeking up front, so today i set the tbar bolts back to their original positions prior to uncranking. everything is quiet and smooth again. i ordered a set of 33x12.5x17 mickey thompsons today. i'll see how she sits once they arrive. looking at nerf bar, bed mat, and tounneau cover. then thats me. this lowering idea is frustrating me.
