Serious Lift Question

Ok guys i need little help please...

am very confused right now...

am planing on Buying a Bolt-on lift kit for my 07 f150 , am looking for some look and good performance at dunes , am not planing to make my truck a serious dune monster , and i have another car just for going to work and collage (but sometimes i use my F150 too)...

after searching this site , i had found that Fabtech 6" lift kit is the most popular kit over here ( am liking the Fabtech 6in and the Rize 8in)

after talking with some of my friends about this idea's , they were like "it's not worth it" and "you don't need that height"

actually my friends are more into street-scene (they only care about speed which i don't) and they tolled me an Sway bar would be better investment...but for me , I like to spend more time in Dunes , i go dunes every weekend or 2....but for them , few times a year...

it's my truck and it's what am doing , so am asking you guys:

is it true what they say? am really liking the lifted look on my truck (money isn't a problem) am all into good performance at Dunes and nice lifted look (i have another car which can go around corners real fast....very fast! somthing around +75mph) and i don't speed with my F150 anyway , Hell! am not even planing to remove the speed limiter

so what's you input guys?

fabtech would be a great choice since it doesnt use a spacer up front or the rize with new coil overs

hmm , i was expecting some more replys , but it isn't big deal...

so it isn't a bad modd to lift my truck , isn't it? i know i might lose some top speed if i want high+big tires , but i can always Re-gear it + i drive on 75 mph max

so i understand from you guys that this is the green light to go...

IMO i would go with the rize lift 8-12 inch lift and you wont regret it at all sense you also say money isnt a big deal. Like me i had a 6 suspension then added a 2' leveling kit then a 3' body lift and now im gonna be doing a solid axle swap to run 46s. Once you lift it youll want to go bigger haha atleast for me a quite a bit of members on here. But Rize has the best looking and quality from what i understand. So look into the rize more and also top gun customz has it to where you can buy the rize but upgrade like shocks and leaf spring packages and such so take a look over there as well. Now gearing you will need to re gear for sure if you go with a rize 8' bc you wont want to run anything lower than 37s bc it just doesnt look right. Its too much wheel well space under there.

And to answer your other question lifting a truck is not a bad mod at all. Just dont treat it like crap after you get it and not take care of it and you will be fine.

yep , i saw the Rize at top gun customz , and i really like them , but "solid axle swap " , i guess i need to search for that...

and yeah , right now i treat my truck nice and gentle , my buddy has an 08 silverado , and he kicks the living chit out if it , his trany has blown several times , well that's not me :)

thanks guys :)

yeah do an 8" rize, you will be more than happy with the height you get out of it.

you will need to regear, alot of people on here will say to go with either 4.56's or 4.88's. dont go with 4.56's its pointless. get 4.88's in the both axle and run some 37's and you'll be set.

Solid axle swap is comepletely gutting your front IFS suspension and throwing in a solid axle, like super duties run solid axles up front jeeps do and some other heavy duty truck. this enables you to lift the truck a great hieght and built it up to be beefy and hell. the front IFS suspension on these trucks really cant hand to much abuse under big tires.

and tell your friends that upgrading your sway bar has to be one of the stupidest mod suggestions i have ever heard.

and after you lift it, then you should twin turbo it. and make it faster than your friends cars. so you win both ways.

I would get the Rize over the Fabtech. The Fabtech is popular because it is more practical for most of us that use our trucks as daily drivers or if they are on a tighter budget. It clears 35s, and look good on it, so no need to regear.

Since the truck is not your daily driver you might want to look at the Rize, although if you dont want to spend the extra 1500 or so for Rize then Fabtech is a great alternative. Like you said its your truck and you should do what you want with it, dont listen to your friends just because their not into that.

For the dunes, i'd go with a long travel setup, not a suspension lift.

Is it 4x4 or 2x4?

http://www.camburg.com/04F150.html

If it's 4x4, i know a compagnie make a kit for it, but can't remember the name.

^^ x2

long travel would probly fit your needs much more than a lift would

total chaos and camburg make good kits, not sure what they have for the 04-08 f150's tho

Got it, JD Fabrication make the 4x4 kit.

And for 2x4, Camburg and JD Fabrication make a kit. The Camburg link is in my other post.

i like the rize 8 inch kit and i think they have a 12 inch if you go to there site. bigger lifts on these trucks look really good.

Eff One Fifty 02-26-2009 11:38 AM

naw dont do a long gtravel if your not going for the dunes all the time.
