Rancho 4" it is

Hey guys, if you recall I have a 3" level kit right now, and have been contemplating what to do. Well all of what you guys have been saying has finally rubbed off on me. I am doing a full suspension lift, no level kit anymore. I am going with the Rancho 4". I will probably have it installed this summer, b/c I need to make some more cash now that I'm not going with the body lift.... I will be sticking with the stock rims and tires for a year though - next year I'll try and get 35x1250R20s M/T ATZs on my stock 20's.

Just wanted to say thanks for your guys input! And if you have any more, like - like maybe, stick w/ my level kit and get tires first or whatnot, I'd love to hear whatever your suggestions are!

That actually doesn't look half bad with the stockers on there... which is what I'll have to do temporarily... well until next year, or whenever I have enough to buy tires, lol.

If you have already upsized your tires once it wouldn't be to awful bad, but with stock tires, 235/75-17, it would look.....weird. But your FX4 starts out at size 275/55-20 your already almost equal to the 275/70-17's on my truck.

The 4" Rancho will only put your truck 1" higher than it is right now w/ the 3" spacer. It's a good choice if you're sure you don't have the aspirations to go bigger than 35's later on. You can get a 6" for just as cheap as the 4" and you will have the option of adding 2" with coilovers and a bigger block/AAL later on. I know you have to run the stock wheels and tires for a while and probably plan on keeping the oem rims and just upgrading to bigger ties. Atleast for a while. You can overcome the fittment issue with a set of 1" wheel spacers that will cost you about $120-$150.

If you are absolutely positive that you will never want to go bigger than 35's then by all means go with the 4" Ranch so that you don't have to worry about the wheel fittment and consequently the wheel spacers.

VTHokie has the rancho with ATZ's i love my rancho too. i have destroyed wheels spacer on my quad and i would NEVER put them on a vehicle. i actually yielded over 5 inches of lift, plenty room for 35's and if everything goes right, i'll be adding a spacer and on 37's this summer.

Yeah I love VTHokie's truck! A while ago I found a link to his website if there's anyone who wants to see some more photos: http://www.thejonesfarm.com/TruckWeb/2006_f150.htm

for some reason it doesn't want to load all the thumbnails but whatever... Yeah, I am 100& positive I don't want to go bigger than 35's... at least for the life of this truck, which I've already put a bunch of miles on since I got it... Does ~18K miles sound like high mileage for being 9 months old?

That's an old link to my webpage. Here's a new one with more pics:

http://thejonesfarm.com/2006_f150.html

I started out with a 2.5" leveling kit with the stock tires and wheels. Adding the Rancho made a huge difference in appearance. As stated, if you don't wish to go larger than 35's, the Rancho is a good pick. I'm very happy with it. Its just what I wanted, looks more aggressive but not too big. I've put about 10,000 miles on the ATZ's and they are still riding great. Hopefully they last a long time!

Sweet! Thanks for posting the new URL!

I was looking at Rocky Mountain Suspension and I can get the 4" Rancho for $1783 + $70 for shipping... From what I researched that sounds like a great deal, but what do you guys think?

I just checked out the website and that price includes the front shocks. It says that it would be a complete kit when you also order the front shocks, but it doesn't mention anything about the rear shocks. Its a pretty good price. I picked mine up for $1,800 from 4wheelparts.com (free shipping, shocks included). I think ATOM got a great deal on his, but I believe there was some price confusion from the place he got it from. (Correct me if I'm wrong ATOM.)

Do I really need to purchase rear shocks if they aren't included?

And as I recall ATOM got his from sportstrailerz but they later went out of business...

You do need rear shocks, but they are probably included. Send them an email and make sure!
