Those with Rize 8 - What's actually needed?
 

I have a 2008 F150 FX4 that I am planning on lifting. I was thinking about going with a 6" Fabtech lift and running 35's, but now I am seriously considering a Rize 8 and 37's after seeing some of your guys pics. What is actually needed to make a Rize kit complete though? I can't figure out if I need new front or rear shocks or coilovers, add a leaf, new driveshafts, brakeline extension, etc? Or nothing but the regular kit? Also, do you need to regear immediately, or can you get away without doing so for a little while?

some trucks you may need to extend the driveshaft. some trucks you dont. some trucks you may not need the brake line kits some you do.

I would say get the brake line kit. its better to have it then to not.

Im not too sure on the rear shocks. but most places like topguncustomz.com has an add on option on the ordering page.

You dont need to regear right away i ran my truck with 37's from september 1st to november 20th without a regear and i was fine.

I have 8" of lift with no extended brakelines or driveshaft lengthening either. but i plan on extending my DS soon.

What happens to make you need to get your DS lengthened?

the driveshaft will pull pretty far out of the slip yoke, and on some guys trucks the driveshaft has fallen out completely

-You will need the brake line kit.
-You will need a 2" aal if your going to keep it at 8" of lift
-The kit should come with rear shocks
-You dont need new front shocks or coilovers unless you feel like bumping it up to 10" of lift
-You will need to have the driveshafts checked out (this might or might not lead to needing new ones)
-Regearing is not a must right off the bat, but would be recommended asap to ease the strain on your tranny and to regain some performance.

Optional stuff would be front coilovers, control arms, new leaf packs, bigger rear shocks, big brake kits, etc, etc.... All of that is neither here nor there. You can tack all this stuff on if you feel the need to spend more money in the suspension, but its not a must.

Without the aal, what would happen? Would the back sag after a little while? Also, I thought you only needed the brake line kit for 2005-2006 model years?

W/out the AAL your rear will sit 2" lower. The AAL is how you get the additional 2" of height with the Rize.

As far as I've read, You DON'T need the brake lines w/ the 04-06's but you DO need them for the 07-08's. I also suggest getting them even if you don't need them.

Not all kits include rear shocks. Some kits include the brake lines. Not all kits even come with the rear blocks and u bolts. Some kits even come with the AAL! My point is ask what is included in the kit before you pay for anything or order anything else. It all depends on who you get it from really. Moral of the story is question before you buy.

Your going to need it anytime in the 04-08 window of trucks. I have an 05 and had to have it. Ill tell you now its much easier to get with a rize rep, find a dealer close to you and then go through them that way your getting evrything you need, plus its my understanding there is a discount of some kind, I would def. contact Ryan Husted (rize rep) on this site and talk with him about it all.

you will need the brake line kit.

2004 and early 2005 trucks didn't need the brake line kit. Late 2005 to 2008 will need the brake line kit.
