Just placed order for 4 Bilsteins!
 

Finally got around to ordering new shocks, so i ordered a set from Topguncustomz.com for $259 shipped. they are the HDs i believe (yellow w/ blue boots). hopefully theyll ride better. i have torsion bars cranked and 305s. cant wait to have them installed! anyone with these shocks have reviews for me?

shocks came in today! any pointers to installing these? the washers and extra bushings are just spares im guessing right?

I just put the HD's on all 4 about a 3 weeks ago. Use the washers and bushings that came with the shocks. the fronts were pretty easy, had to loosen the connecting rod (found out that one of them was sheared off) between the upper and lower control arms to fit the new shock in then bolt everything in and tighten it back up. on the rears, i assume yours came with the bands around the shock? easiest way was after removing the old shock put the new shock in the bottom and bolt it in and don't tighten down too hard. i had to pound out the flanges for the lower shock mount on the rears since the old ones when tightening had pulled them in. once the lower is in aim the top of the shock at the hole where the top mounts to and cut the band. mine didn't expand right away just took a tap from a rubber mallet on the tube to release it and aim the shock as it extends to put it through the mounting hole. if you cut the bands before mount them you'll need to mount the top first then using a floor jack to compress it and move it in place to the lower mount.

**also helps a great deal to hit the bolts on the old shocks with wd40 or liquid wrench a few hours before you do it

ok thanks. how do they ride? did you have to take the front tires off?

so far they ride great, not super stiff but the truck doesn't lean as much while turning. i have not cranked the t-bars either. yes the front wheels came off. if you have your spare tire still up underneath it makes it a whole lot easier and gives you more room if you lower it and take it off and put it aside.

its cold here in NJ and i have no garage to do it in. so i may end up just paying a shop to do the install even though id like to myself. :mad:
