Level'd & 33's to 6" & 35's

Hey guys... just got a summer bonus (late i know) and xmas bonus should be coming up in a few weeks... Considering getting a 6" lift and puttin some 35" a/ts... Now my dad and g/f and a few others are tryin to talk me out of it for mpg reasons.. which are vaild.. but all my friends are saying go for the lift..

I guess what I am trying to see is... what kind of change will I see in mpg? you can see my current set up below in sig. If anyone could help me out that would be great.. maybe give me some of your #'s.. I tried doing a search but dindt come up with any #'s...

and I'll keep ya posted on what I decide

i stayed the same so far but i have not put 35's on yet, i get around 12-13 mpg in the city

6" lift & 35" tires have brought my MPG down about 2 miles. Not significant. Once you factor in the extra weight, poor aerodynamics, increased rolling resistance, and the extra gas it takes to get those wheels & tires moving......you could live with a 2-3 MPG drop for the increased ground clearance, improved suspension, better ride quality, and more aggressive grip on the road.

Have your ring and pinion gears worked into your budget and you won't notice at all, in fact you will probably get better gas mileage with the proper gear ratio.

i get about 11-12 in the city but i have programmer intake and exhaust

i see a mixed average of 12mpg... this is with the 2 valve 5.4L, 4WD, a solid lead foot and 35'' tires... i could probably see closer to an average of 14mpg with a lighter foot.

to hell with the mileage loss! the benefits outweigh the costs, imo.:coffee:

haha thanks guys... im still torn at the moment... but leaning towards the lift and 35's.. bad thing is i just ordered a turner and 3 custom tunes, so would have to go back and get new tunes after. I think I could live with 2-3 drop, and if i pick up those with the programmer and stay at what I am now I should be good.

You won't need new tunes. Your tunes will control your engine and transmission. Your tunes will not control your new lift suspension components. Call the person writing your tunes and tell him that you are also lifting.

i'm knocking down almost 17 on the highway at 60:banana: and not sure about city, we don't have any stoplights in our town:D running a 4 inch rancho 35's on 20's with 3.55 gears, low i know but, light on the gas pedal and smart driving keeps downshifting at a minimum.
