Lift kit cost!!!??
Got an estimate for $2500 for a Pro Comp Stage 1 installed on my o5 F150. What do you think? I am not really a fan of the stage 1 but he said for any kit it will be $1000 labor.

check ebay, theres stage 1 kits floating around for about $1,000 + shipping

$2500 seems a little high. you should be looking to pay around $1900-2200 installed.
and they charge a 1000 bucks for install! thats over a $100 bucks an hour for labor. try another shop if their are any others in your area. |
i agree... 1000 for install is nuts.... it took me and a friend about 10 hours working with hand tools, and doing it without a lift. if you dont have the means to install it yourself, then i would look for someone to install for no more than 500.00 and then add the alignment, so a grand total of 600.00. if they charge more than that, just dedicate a day and do it yourself.... you will appreciate it more too !!!

Not everybody has the tools and/or mechanical ability.
not trying to start a war, its just my opinion. |
$1000 for labor is ridiculous.
It's worth spending a couple hundred to buy some quality tools you need and installing it yourself. You learn a ton about your truck, the sense of satisfaction is great, and you'll have the tools forever. |
If you have never done it or aren't the most handy in the shop, i'd take it to a shop. Yes you can learn alot, but you can get overwhelmed easily. When i did my rancho, i had the entire front off and the subframe would not fit:eek: imagine sitting there, with a truck with 5500 miles, and the subframe will not fit, talk about ready to cry. About halfway through, i wish i would have taken it in, but after you get it all apart putting on the new stuff on is a breeze. Yeah 2500 bucks does seem alot for a procomp, i got quoted 2500 for a rancho and its a much better kit IMO, but only 4 inches not 6 though too. where ya from bronco79? maybe someone can help ya out

Damn guys wasn"t trying to start a war. I am from south jersey.

if your paying $2500 should be be atleast getting a fabtech 6".
go shop around for other places to install. i would not pay any more than $2100 bucks. if that is the only shop who will install buy the kit of ebay for $1100 bucks and then pay that $1000 to install it. |

I am from south jersey. So was Daniel LaRusso! But seriously, get a 2nd quote. There has got to be another shop within a few hours of where you live. I know that they are not always popular, but 4wheelparts.com has shops all over the country and they are a good place to start. I have one in my area, and they do pretty good work. The guys in my local shop have a tendency to push the Explorer Pro Comp stuff, but that is just because they are owned by the same people. By the way, for the price you mentioned, I will probably be getting a lift from California Super Trucks, and having it installed by them in their shop. |
